My oldest brother got married! And what a wedding it was. So let's start at the beginning (well, not quite the BEGINNING beginning, that would take far too long: "so my mother met my father and they fell in love...." etc. etc.) My brother proposed to his now-wife, she said yes, and plans began to be made. I was asked to be a groomsman and gladly accepted the role. Now, the wedding was planned for Oct. 30th in williamsburg, Va,but before that was the rehearsal dinner on the 29th and I had tickets for a certain Guster concert the night of the 28th... in Vermont. Ultimately I decided that both were important and forwent sleep that night in order to catch a 5:45am flight to Richmond, VA. Needless to say, the concert was definitely worth being tired for.
Once in Virginia the wedding stuff began to take place. Rehearsals happened, dinner was served - which was quite impressive. The rehearsal dinner took place at a resturaunt called "Sal's" which is right around the corner from the campus of William & Mary, and boy did they know how to feed us. Overall the course had probably 6 different courses with around 15 different dishes. We wobbled away very full.
Then the wedding. It was quite the sight - it took place in the Methodist church in Williamsburg right next to the "Wesley House" (I believe I'm getting this information correct; look, I'm just a groomsman, I just stand and look pretty). I got to escort my grandfathers wife and the mother of the bride down the aisle - very fun. Then it was a lot of standing straight (my back hated me) and making sure to not lock my knees. It went off without a hitch (well... not EXACTLY, if you know what I mean).
Then the reception - lots of fancy food and dancing. my brothers and I got to sit at the Head Table: picture the dinning hall of Hogwarts - I was a teacher. It was beyond awesome.
Over the course of the entire event I had relatives and friends constantly badgering my brother Ethan and me about when we were going to get our butts down to Virginia for good. I even had my uncle and grandfather hyping the programs at VCU (which are quite good) to me - and I must say, I'm seriously considering a transfer.
Now I'm at my grandfathers home in Saluda, writing a blog post that is long overdue and that probably needs editing that wont happen. I promise future ones will be a little better (not much), but I've got a nice list of things to do before I catch my morning flights back home tomorrow. Woo.
